I have been writing today. Where is all of this wonderful (yes, I just called myself wonderful, but that is a perk of being a writer, so get over it!) writing, you ask? It is not in this post, it is simmering somewhere in an online pot of sorts. I started writing an e-book a month or so ago when my friend Claudia simply said to me, “Okay, I am with you, I get it, I follow…NOW WHAT?” So, while I have asked many questions and attempted to provoke thought, I really do think that there are things we can do, or should I say, steps we can take, to begin this journey towards finding our voice and being empowered.
Well then, one would think that I would simply sit my [oh, how I would love to write the adjective 'little' here] ass down in a chair and begin typing out all of my prolific wisdom about how one goes about finding their voice and becoming empowered. Here is where you would insert a very loud air horn for affect….it would scare you it would be so loud. Because, it just isn’t that easy. Nothing is that easy, or haven’t you learned that by now people.
So, I have read, I have studied, I have compiled my experience from my years of working with women, I have asked other women in the business of working with women, I have pondered, I have wept (true), and now I am in boot-camp. Yes, it is true. I do love to write, but I do not possess the simple self-discipline that one requires to sit down and systematically type out my experience as it pertains to the things that I believe will move you forward in your journey. I have them in my heart, my soul, my mind and I want to write them down…FOR YOU…SO…
You heard me, boot-camp. It really is a boot-camp for sissies, as no one is shouting at me or spitting in my face (which is a good thing considering it would make me cry like a baby!) however, I do feel some sense of accountability. So, all of this to say, I have a goal. I am putting it out there, right now, for all of you to see, to hear and to anticipate. Let’s be honest, the tension is palpable….
I love that word!
I will release my e-book towards the end of October. Are you excited? I will give you periodic details and let you know how you can get your grimy little hands on it (since it will be online, I guess that doesn’t really work, but it sounded so good!) Okay, I am excited, I am motivated.
That.is.all.

This sounds terrific. Good for you. Here is a quote I saw today that reminded me of your post last week about empowerment and influence. As you create your book, I hope it empowers you!:
“There is a power that destroys. There is also a power that creates. The power that creates gives life and joy and peace. It is freedom and not bondage, life and not death, transformation and not coercion. The power that creates restores relationship and gives the gift of wholeness to all. The power that creates is spiritual power, the power that proceeds from God.”

cynthia, you rock! thanks for the ‘empowerment’ and for the fabulous quote. i am a richard foster fan, love his writing and his thoughtfulness. we’ll see…
Jorja, that’s awesome! I am *all about* letting as many people know as possible about any project/journey/boot camp I’m about to embark on – it really does hold you accountable. Good luck on your eBook, I feel sure that you’ll meet your October goal. Take care, Stacey
stacey, well, the cat is out of the bag, so i suppose follow-through is now in order. it is good to feel a deadline looming…it’s been a while! thanks for the good wishes!
E-book?!? CONGRATUFREAKINLATIONS!! Damn… that’s really something I should consider starting (since it’ll take me the next 20 years to finish). But seriously, I want advance copies! And if you need an editor… you know where to find one!
linz, hey babe! good to have you come by and visit! so, what are your rates?
Jorja,
I.m just stopping by to wish you much enjoyment with your e-book boot camp writing class.
Hope this Labor Day weekend is peaceful and remarkable!
Judy
judy, you have a great weekend as well. i am going to attempt to write this weekend. family is away at the beach/lake. so, we will see if i can get some writing done. enjoy yours!
i love it. there is no more interesting story than yours. you have lived a life of influence like no one i have ever met…and with a story so fused to helping people there is deep pain, anger, joy and hope. your life inspires me to hope–”it is better to drink of deep griefs than to taste shallow pleasures.” (William Hazlitt) i cannot wait to read the book.
wen, you can not know how encouraging that is to me…and intimidating all at the same time!
i will be using that quote, so i’ll owe you a bottle of wine or something for the contribution! i love you. caroline’s card was so kind and thoughtful. thanks for doing that…she loves you.
