And the Award Goes to…

*tears**gasping**blushing**panting**more tears*

I won the VERSATILE BLOGGER AWARD!

Okay, I’ve never been given an award (that I can remember) for anything!  I wanted to thank the fabulous MotherKnowsLess for nominating me, or choosing me, or whatever the hell it is that she did to get me this award!  You should skip on over to her MotherKnowsLess blog and learn from all of the amazing tips that she has about parenting.  Me, of course, I think her tips on ‘Travel in Europe‘ are the best ever!  Gotta love a mom who is thinking about Europe and Travel!  Love it!!!

Okay, this is the lowdown with this award:

  1. Thank the *wonderful* blogger who gave you this award
  2. Tell everyone 7 things about yourself
  3. Nominate 15 newly discovered blogs to share this award!

Number one, check.

Number two:

I have been married 19 years this month to the man I dated off and on for 5 years in college.  (Damn that’s a long time…just call me an otter?)

I have a beautiful almost 16 yr-old daughter, a strapping 13 year-old and a very busy 10 year-old daughter.

My 10 year-old daughter has many mental, social, psychological and academic challenges.

Having a special needs child has changed my life and will always make my life different.

I would write my memoir, but my family members would kill me.

I am a Private Investigator in my BIG LIFE (the life that makes money, not the one where I sit in front of this screen and write my heart out!)

If my closest friends said anything about me (something good, that is) it would be that I am loyal.

Check.

Number 3, okay, here goes! (I really can’t keep doing this…I’ve got to pack for BlogHer ’10 dammit!)

    Jorja,
This is great news. For some reason I was thinking that BlogHer 2010 was next week. I have lost track of time. Next week I go to Albany, NY and Exton, PA to visit my 97 year old mother-in-law and attend my future daughter-in-law’s bridal shower. Whew!!!

Have a great trip, take lots of photos and enjoy the city.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate being included in your list – thank you!

I have to tell you that your comments about yourself and your family are incredibly touching. I love your tagline, the fact that you have a layered mission and the fact that you are so clear about why you are writing your blog. When I grow up can I be you?! :)

Thank you again – and have an amazing time at Blogher!

why i write this blog ~

I write to help other women know and value their authentic selves and to help them move towards contributing with passion to their worlds!

I believe women are the greatest life-givers in our society, yet many women, by mid-life, have fallen prey to losing themselves in the roles and expectations of their families, cultures and inner critics. They have lost their way and I believe, a true sense of self and ability to use their voices. Eleanor Roosevelt said that she believes we decide who we really are and then live with that decision.
I write with a two-fold purpose: to document my journey of learning and owning my true self and how it impacts my life, and to help other women do the same. I am not one who as arrived, but a fellow traveler. As I write, I hope my vulnerability connects me with others as they see their hopes, their foibles, their fears and aspirations in my story. And as we learn, and come to value our voices, we are not turned inward, but, on the contrary, we will become more connected to those around us.
Women who are able to learn, value and contribute are women who are living beyond the pale!

things to make you wonder~

“I am a frayed and nibbled survivor in a fallen world, and I am getting along. I am aging and eaten and have done my share of eating too. I am not washed and beautiful, in control of a shining world in which everything fits, but instead am wondering awed about on a splintered wreck I've come to care for, whose gnawed trees breathe a delicate air, whose bloodied and scarred creatures are my dearest companions, and whose beauty bats and shines not in its imperfections but overwhelmingly in spite of them...” Annie Dillard
