The need for objectivity
In looking toward the rest of my life, I need an outside eye…having someone bring that objectivity reflects wisdom, not weakness. I want to have a partner, someone who can come alongside me in my life and help me clear the windshield, move past the confusion and get a clear vision of what lies ahead. I want to be able to take stock of where I am in my life, where I long to be and begin taking steps to get there. I want someone who is intuitive and in tune to where I am and where I want to go with my life. I am not looking for someone to delve into my past and counsel me, I want someone who can sharpen my focus on the future, not the past. I know that the work will be my work, that I am the only one who can empower myself to make the necessary changes in my life to move forward, but I want that outside eyeball, someone who can give me focus, hold my feet to the fire and remind me of all that I am capable of accomplishing. I had doubts about actually paying someone to consult with me or coach me, but then I considered that how I navigate this part of my life will lay the foundation for the decades to come. What could be more important that getting that kind of clarity and input.
These are the 5 areas we will focus on in our consulting time….
- Rediscovering ‘Who I am’
- Developing ‘Who I am’
- Syncing my life/relationships with ‘Who I am’
- Creating a future strategy that incorporates ‘Who I am’
- Broadening my horizons by sharing ‘Who I am’
At midlife, we as women have a unique opportunity…to determine our path for the next fifty years. There are definite questions that need to be asked and decisions that need to be made. Moving out, beyond the boundaries and comfort that we have assumed for the first half of our lives takes courage and determination. Having someone that is on the same journey, possibly only steps ahead, can give us the motivation and the encouragement that we need to push past our fears and begin the adventure.
As a consultant, I am committed to walking with you, as you begin this journey, and empowering you with four tools: perspective, motivation, thoughtful reflection and engagement. There is no ‘silver bullet’ and everyone has a different trajectory, however, consulting offers the added measure of partnership that can move us one step closer to Living Beyond the Pale.

About Jorja:
Jorja H. White, the founder of Living Beyond The Pale Consulting and the author of LivingBeyondThePale.com, has been working with women of all ages since the early 1990’s. Jorja received her Bachelor of Arts in English and Speech at Samford University and then went on to work with college-aged women for fifteen years. She has studied Education as well as Theology at the graduate level.
She has had an array of jobs, while she would tell you that her truest vocation and love is helping people. She has been able to pursue this love both in the non-profit and profit sector. She has also been able to pursue her vision of ‘empowering women to live outside the lines,’ on her popular blog, LivingBeyondThePale.com.
Some of her clients have this to say about her consulting/coaching/writing:
“This is the kind of thing I’d really love to do, oh so much…what you are doing resonated with me in many ways. The first time I went away from my kids and family to do a writing workshop, I remember being on the plane and thinking, ‘I don’t even know what to think about when my kids aren’t with me’ and it was a revelation to me that something was wrong in my life and my heart. And it felt like such the opposite of what I’d always been told should be true…” Kristy, Children’s author, wife & mother ~ Belo Horizonte, Brazil
“Jorja mentored me during a particularly emotional time in my life. I valued her ability to speak with compassion, clarity and wisdom.”
Susan, wife & mother ~ Brisbane, Australia
“In mysterious moments of grace, unfathomable people step into our lives. Jorja’s uncanny discernment mixed with intelligence and larger than life values have always perplexed and intrigued me. Looking back over our 14 yr. long friendship I can say without a doubt, Jorja sees me for who I am, the good and the ugly, and she has never stepped away. In fact she has moved closer to boldly encourage at times, and quietly comfort during times of loss. My life would not be the same without her gracious and enduring influence and friendship.”
Rachel, Women’s Coordinator, wife & mom ~ Decatur, GA
“I have known Jorja for almost 15 years during which time we have more often than not been long-distance friends. No matter the distance, how much time had gone by since our last conversation, or the seasons that either of us found ourselves, Jorja has consistently spoken into my life with much discernment, passion, truth and love. She has an uncanny ability to not only discern deep truths and motives of the heart and soul but also to put words around them in such a way that they become tangible and transforming.”
Heather, RN ~ Decatur, GA
“Jorja has always had the gift of bringing people together and of making others feel important and connected. In college, she acknowledged everyone she encountered, made-up nicknames for most, and made everyone feel significant. She has an infectious laugh and exudes positive energy. In reconnecting with Jorja in the last year, she is the same in many ways. However, with maturity and life experience has come a depth of wisdom and a heightened desire to find her path – to become her authentic self. She is a gifted writer. She is in tune with the heart and spirit of our generation of woman. She brings us together by expressing what we are all experiencing (on different levels). She is brutally honest concerning her emotions, her journey. She shares her vulnerability. In doing so, she opens the door for others to be candid, starts the dialogue that let’s all of us examine and evaluate our journey, our choices. She is an advocate of women, of empowering women, of creating a community of support for women. She is my kind of women! Can’t wait to read more!” Carole, Attorney, Philanthropist, wife & mom ~ Birmingham, AL
“I have known Jorja for fifteen years and have asked for her counsel on every major decision I have made: marriage, raising children, relocating, changing occupation, spiritual questions, etc. I have found her discerning mind and compassion invaluable through struggles and times of hardship. Every woman should have a Jorja in her life. One of my favorite aspects of her friendship is that she understands her own frailty. I always felt like I could be honest with her, because she knows her own weakness.”
Wendi, Nursery Director, wife & mom ~ San Fransisco, CA
Jorja lives in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband of nineteen years, Andy. They have three children, 16, 13 and 10. She is always learning and never wants to stop traveling. She enjoys her family, her friends, reading, developing, traveling, good food and great wine, and, as her friends will tell you, ‘stirring the pot!’ (Oh yes, and she has two dogs, who drive her crazy!)
