mission statement

I have been contemplating a way to put into words what this blog, this website, this virtual business is about.  It has been a burning desire in and of my heart for some time now, but to put it into words has been a challenge.  It has been a good challenge however, and one that has given me a clear path for what I am “about” when I sit down at this computer and when I contemplate what it is that I want to see happen in my own life and the lives of my readers.

I am committed to learning more and more each and every day about who I am and how I was made to be so that I might live my life with a fullness that contributes to the lives of those around me.  I believe that each of us is made uniquely by a creator and has unique gifts to share with all of humanity and it is my mission to help each woman that I come in contact with to find her gifts and develop them to the very best of my ability.

I believe that these gifts are best developed in community and that we can learn from each other along the way.  I will provide a forum of sorts on this blog that will offer a spring board, topics of conversation for us to discuss, but I am not the only teacher.  We will learn from one another as many of you have traveled this road and are steps, if not miles ahead of me.

My aim is to empower each of you, to connect you with one another, to remind you that you are more than capable of pursuing your gifts and that you will be a better wife, mother, daughter, friend and human being when you are more fully who you were intended to be.  There is great joy in being fulfilled, great hope in knowing you are moving towards something that ignites passion in your soul and those around you will find you irresistible as you develop and grow in your endeavors.

I will help you by giving you opportunities to learn just how you are “wired” in your personality.  I will help you by talking with you about your passions and reminding you that you are a separate being from the roles that consume your life on a dialy basis.  I will hold you accountable to that next step in pursuing your passions.  I will connect you with the people who can take you to the next level in your business pursuits, your health pursuits or your desire to write, paint or whatever!  I will encourage you to step out of your life with other women and travel even though it seems an impossible feat because we can see our lives, our contexts with much greater objectivity once we look from the outside and have the help of others.  I will encourage you to pursue community both virtually and in your “real” world.

These are the things I am committed to doing in order to help you, to empower you to move toward the next forty years of your life with a renewed vigor, a renewed hope and a renewed passion for life!

I want to help you determine what pales, what limits you have set for yourself and then…let’s live beyond them!  Let’s be scandalous!

why i write this blog ~

I write to help other women know and value their authentic selves and to help them move towards contributing with passion to their worlds!

I believe women are the greatest life-givers in our society, yet many women, by mid-life, have fallen prey to losing themselves in the roles and expectations of their families, cultures and inner critics. They have lost their way and I believe, a true sense of self and ability to use their voices. Eleanor Roosevelt said that she believes we decide who we really are and then live with that decision.
I write with a two-fold purpose: to document my journey of learning and owning my true self and how it impacts my life, and to help other women do the same. I am not one who as arrived, but a fellow traveler. As I write, I hope my vulnerability connects me with others as they see their hopes, their foibles, their fears and aspirations in my story. And as we learn, and come to value our voices, we are not turned inward, but, on the contrary, we will become more connected to those around us.
Women who are able to learn, value and contribute are women who are living beyond the pale!

things to make you wonder~

“I am a frayed and nibbled survivor in a fallen world, and I am getting along. I am aging and eaten and have done my share of eating too. I am not washed and beautiful, in control of a shining world in which everything fits, but instead am wondering awed about on a splintered wreck I've come to care for, whose gnawed trees breathe a delicate air, whose bloodied and scarred creatures are my dearest companions, and whose beauty bats and shines not in its imperfections but overwhelmingly in spite of them...” Annie Dillard
