Compensation

This blog accepts many forms of compensation, including (but not limited to) paid posts, sponsorships, advertising, products, and trips.

The compensation Jorja receives may influence the advertising content, links, or post topics of this blog, but will never influence Jorja’s opinions on any subject or product.

If a reader clicks on a link or advertisement on LivingBeyondThePale.com and subsequently makes a purchase on that website, or uses a discount code found on LivingBeyondThePale.com, Jorja may receive some form of compensation (cash or otherwise) from that company or website.

Compensation Levels

Compensation levels will be stated clearly at the beginning or end of any post that mentions a product, service or location that is covered by any of the levels listed below (or possibly within a post if there are many products listed, such as a gift list).  If no compensation level is listed, it is to be assumed that there was no compensation involved with the post or any products, services or locations mentioned in the post.  For the purposes of these levels user does not consider transportation to and from a local event, or food consumed at an event, as compensation.  Compensation refers to cash, gift certificates, products, or services.

Swag

If the blogger is given free products of minimal value at a conference, event or meeting that are being given to all attendees, such as bags, books, water bottles, small product samples, coupons, etc., he/she does not consider these items as compensation and will not necessarily disclose them when talking about a product.

Content

The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely Jorja’s own, unless otherwise stated. Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer, provider or party in question. If Jorja quotes from a press release or other source, that content will be clearly marked.

Jorja does not have control of which products, services or locations appear in advertisements hosted by third parties, and is not influenced in any way by these advertisements.

Jorja is not responsible for anything that happens to anyone as a result of following her advice or reviews, or purchasing a product or service as a result of visiting LivingBeyondThePale.com.

Comments

Jorja reserves the right to remove any comment that she sees fit, for any reason, including but not limited to her mood that particular day. Comments are likely to be removed if they are abusive to another commenter, an advertiser, or a sponsor, or if they appear to have been left mostly for the purpose of promoting another website, blog or business, or if they promote a business that competes with an advertiser or sponsor.  All links in the comments section are followed, so if it has even the faintest whiff of spam, it will be removed.

Twitter

Jorja often tweets about products or services she has been compensated for, or companies she has an ongoing relationship with.  If Jorja is paid specifically to Tweet about a product or service, she will append the Tweet with “[spon]” for “Sponsored Tweet” wherever possible.  When an ad campaign doesn’t allow for changes, she will choose Tweets that are obviously written as ads, containing links that include words like “ad” or “spon”.

When in doubt, it’s safest to assume that Jorja received some kind of compensation or has a relationship with a company or product that she tweets about. It’s also possible that clicking on a link in a tweet will lead to an Amazon.com page or other page where Jorja will receive some sort of compensation if you buy something.  If a link leads to a purchasing page, it’s safest to assume that this is the case.

In Closing

Jorja is open to being approached by brands who wish for her to review or promote their products.  However, the primary purpose of this blog is to provide a place to write and help others.  Thanks.

P.S. – I am new to the whole review thing and basically copied this disclosure from another blogger (Amy at SelfishMom.com) who is incredibly successful in this area…oh yeah, she said I could copy it!

why i write this blog ~

I write to help other women know and value their authentic selves and to help them move towards contributing with passion to their worlds!

I believe women are the greatest life-givers in our society, yet many women, by mid-life, have fallen prey to losing themselves in the roles and expectations of their families, cultures and inner critics. They have lost their way and I believe, a true sense of self and ability to use their voices. Eleanor Roosevelt said that she believes we decide who we really are and then live with that decision.
I write with a two-fold purpose: to document my journey of learning and owning my true self and how it impacts my life, and to help other women do the same. I am not one who as arrived, but a fellow traveler. As I write, I hope my vulnerability connects me with others as they see their hopes, their foibles, their fears and aspirations in my story. And as we learn, and come to value our voices, we are not turned inward, but, on the contrary, we will become more connected to those around us.
Women who are able to learn, value and contribute are women who are living beyond the pale!

things to make you wonder~

“I am a frayed and nibbled survivor in a fallen world, and I am getting along. I am aging and eaten and have done my share of eating too. I am not washed and beautiful, in control of a shining world in which everything fits, but instead am wondering awed about on a splintered wreck I've come to care for, whose gnawed trees breathe a delicate air, whose bloodied and scarred creatures are my dearest companions, and whose beauty bats and shines not in its imperfections but overwhelmingly in spite of them...” Annie Dillard
